Mental Health Therapist — Minnesota

RRCS is seeking Mental Health Therapists — full-time or part-time — to serve a broad range of ages, diagnoses, and presenting concerns from our Minneapolis, Minnesota location. We welcome independently licensed mental health professionals as well as clinical trainees working toward independent licensure in Minnesota.

We provide compassionate, evidence-based outpatient mental health counseling that fosters healing, growth, and transformation. RRCS operates outpatient behavioral health programs in Minnesota and Georgia.

Two Engagement Tracks

RRCS engages Minnesota clinicians on one of two tracks. The applicable track depends on your credential under Minnesota Statutes Chapter 245I, not on preference — a clinical trainee may provide services only under the treatment supervision of a mental health professional (Minn. Stat. § 245I.04, subd. 7, and § 245I.06). Because RRCS directs and is accountable for that supervision, clinical trainees are engaged as W-2 employees. Independently licensed mental health professionals practice within their own licensure scope and may elect either classification.

Track A — Mental Health Professional (Minn. Stat. § 245I.04, subd. 2)

You must hold an active Minnesota license in good standing in one of the following:

• Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW)
• Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)
• Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
• Licensed Psychologist (LP)
• Registered nurse certified as a psychiatric-mental health clinical nurse specialist or nurse practitioner by a national certifying body

Track B — Clinical Trainee (Minn. Stat. § 245I.04, subd. 6)

You qualify as a clinical trainee if you meet any one of the following: you are enrolled in an accredited graduate program preparing you for independent licensure as a mental health professional and are completing a practicum or internship with RRCS through that program; you have completed such a program and are in compliance with your licensing board's requirements, including supervised practice; or you have completed such a program and a practicum/internship and have not yet taken or received results from the required examination, or are awaiting a final licensure decision.

Clinical trainees are responsible for notifying and applying to the applicable Minnesota health-related licensing board and for ensuring they meet that board's requirements. RRCS treatment supervision may be integrated into your board supervision plan where the board permits, but it does not replace board requirements. Minnesota LPC and LGSW licensees are welcome to apply under Track B — these credentials are not mental health professional credentials under § 245I.04, subd. 2, but typically qualify as clinical trainee credentials while working toward LPCC or LICSW. RRCS preference (not a statutory requirement): candidates with at least ten months of prior clinical work experience.

Education

Master's degree or doctorate in counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, psychology, or a related behavioral health field from an accredited institution.

Additional Requirements — All Tracks

• Complete a Minnesota DHS background study under Minn. Stat. ch. 245C and receive clearance before any direct contact with clients.
• Clear exclusion screening against the OIG LEIE, SAM.gov, and the Minnesota Health Care Programs exclusion list, and remain unexcluded throughout the engagement.
• Complete the orientation and annual training required under Minn. Stat. § 245I.05 before providing direct contact services.
• Carry, or obtain prior to first client contact, professional liability (malpractice) coverage at limits specified by RRCS.
• Complete payer credentialing and MHCP enrollment paperwork, including CAQH profile setup and attestation, and cooperate with re-credentialing.
• Maintain a private workspace, secure internet connection, and equipment adequate for HIPAA-compliant telehealth.
• Complete RRCS onboarding, HIPAA, and compliance training prior to first client contact.

What You'll Do

• Establish and maintain a positive, trusting therapeutic alliance with clients.
• Complete diagnostic assessments under Minn. Stat. § 245I.10 within your authorized scope of practice.
• Develop individual treatment plans meeting § 245I.10, subds. 7 and 8, responsive to client needs, culture, and circumstances.
• Deliver psychotherapy and revise treatment plans as clinical presentation changes.
• Recognize and respond to risk, including safety planning and mandated reporting under Minn. Stat. §§ 626.557 and 260E.
• Maintain client files meeting Minn. Stat. § 245I.08, including progress notes documented within required timeframes.
• Comply with HIPAA, the Minnesota Health Records Act, 42 CFR Part 2 where applicable, and all RRCS privacy and security policies.
• Participate in treatment supervision required under § 245I.06 (Track B) or clinical consultation as agreed (Track A).

Compensation and What RRCS Provides

Compensation range: $28.00–$50.00 per hour. Placement within the range reflects credential level, licensure status, experience, and engagement track. Track A contractors are compensated under a written professional services agreement at a negotiated rate within this range.

W-2 employees receive Minnesota Earned Sick and Safe Time and coverage under Minnesota Paid Leave, plus any additional benefits described in the RRCS employee handbook. Independent contractors under Track A are responsible for their own benefits, taxes, and insurance, and are not eligible for employee benefit programs.
