Trauma Therapy & PTSD Treatment in Atlanta, GA
Intro Paragraph
Atlanta bears a weight that often goes unspoken. The city's history -- including its role in the Civil Rights Movement, documented racial inequalities, and community losses -- is embedded in people's bodies and relationships, and clinical systems have been slow to recognize this. Add personal trauma to that collective history, and the burden becomes even heavier. Radiant Recovery offers specialized PTSD treatment and trauma therapy in Atlanta, with expertise in racial trauma, community grief, and trauma types most common among Black Atlantans. EMDR and CPT are available. Georgia Medicaid is accepted. Services are offered in person at Midtown or via telehealth statewide.
Who We Help
Black Atlanta residents are processing racial and collective trauma
Hypervigilance, anger, grief, and avoidance are documented PTSD-adjacent responses to sustained racial stress. Our BIPOC clinicians work within a racial trauma framework developed specifically for this reality. You will not need to defend the legitimacy of what you carry.
Survivors of domestic violence and intimate partner violence
Atlanta faces high rates of domestic violence, and the resulting trauma requires clinicians trained in trauma-sensitive approaches who prioritize safety. We offer DV trauma care that emphasizes empowerment and client agency.
Adults with childhood trauma
ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) are pervasive in the communities we serve. Complex developmental trauma manifests in adult depression, relationship difficulties, and chronic emotional dysregulation -- and it responds to treatment.
Medical trauma survivors
ICU stays; cancer diagnoses, surgical complications, and childbirth trauma all produce real PTSD responses. Medical PTSD is underrecognized and highly treatable.

- Domestic violence and IPV trauma

Evidence-Based Trauma Therapies
EMDR
APA-, VA-, and WHO-endorsed. Available in-person at Midtown Atlanta and via telehealth throughout Georgia. Does not require detailed verbal narration of traumatic events.
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
12-session evidence-based protocol. Particularly effective for assault survivors and those processing events where self-blame is central.
Culturally Adapted Trauma Work
For Black clients in Atlanta, trauma treatment that ignores systemic racism, community grief, and historical trauma is incomplete. Our therapists are trained to integrate this as core clinical content.
Somatic Awareness and Grounding
Body-based approaches were integrated where clinically appropriate. Trauma lives in the nervous system, not just the mind.
