Trauma Therapy & PTSD Treatment in Columbus, GA
Intro Paragraph
Columbus is, in many ways, a city marked by trauma. Fort Moore has shaped generations of soldiers who have faced combat, military sexual trauma, moral injury, and the unique PTSD of returning to a world that doesn't understand what they've been through. Muscogee County's Black community bears the burden of economic marginalization, community violence, and the legacy of racial injustice rooted in the Deep South. Additionally, the high domestic violence rates in the Chattahoochee Valley mean that trauma from intimate partner violence is a widespread and often overlooked issue across the region. Radiant Recovery offers specialized PTSD treatment and trauma therapy for Columbus residents via telehealth services throughout Georgia. EMDR, CPT, and military-adapted trauma therapies are available. We accept Georgia Medicaid. Appointments are scheduled within the same week.
Who We Help
Active-duty soldiers, veterans, and military families near Fort Moore
Fort Moore is the Army's Infantry center, one of the most combat-focused training and deployment pipelines in the U.S. military. The trauma cases among Columbus's military population are significant: combat PTSD, Military Sexual Trauma (MST), moral injury, training accident trauma, and secondary trauma experienced by military spouses and children. We treat all of these with EMDR and CPT adapted for military culture.
Black Columbus residents are processing racial and community trauma
Muscogee County's Black community has faced concentrated poverty, community violence, and the unique trauma of navigating the racial systems of the Deep South. Racial trauma, domestic violence, and community-level loss are key clinical realities here. Our BIPOC clinicians address these issues with clinical depth and without needing explanation.
Domestic violence survivors in the Chattahoochee Valley
The Columbus area has documented rates of domestic violence above state averages. The trauma that follows IPV -- complex PTSD, trauma bonding, shame, hyperarousal, and difficulty trusting safety -- requires therapists trained in trauma-sensitive DV work. We provide this with client safety and agency at the center.
First responders and emergency personnel
Columbus firefighters, law enforcement, and EMS personnel experience both vicarious and direct trauma throughout their careers. Occupational PTSD among first responders is common and often goes untreated. We offer confidential care for those who dedicate their lives to serving others.

Evidence-Based Trauma Therapies
EMDR
Endorsed by APA, VA, and WHO. Available via telehealth for all Columbus and Georgia residents using validated virtual bilateral stimulation. Especially helpful for combat trauma and MST when verbal processing is difficult or re-traumatizing.
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
12-session protocol. One of the two treatments the VA considers most effective for PTSD. Adapted for military culture: structured, direct, and focused on the specific stuck points -- self-blame, moral injury, hypervigilance -- most common in combat survivors.
Military-Informed Trauma Treatment
For Columbus's military population, trauma treatment is provided with clear respect for military values, culture, and identity -- while offering the clinical depth necessary for clients to process their experiences. We do not ask clients to check their identity at the door.
