Trauma Therapy & PTSD Treatment in Savannah, GA
Intro Paragraph
Savannah's relationship with trauma has deep historical roots and significant clinical implications. Chatham County's Black community bears the burden of a city that was a major hub of the domestic slave trade--a history whose psychological legacy persists over time. This historical weight adds to the personal and community trauma caused by contemporary racial inequality, domestic violence, and community violence in a city that is often portrayed as uniformly beautiful through its tourism. SCAD's creative community experiences trauma from sexual violence, identity-based harassment, and the psychological wounds of competitive creative environments. Additionally, Savannah's growing population includes adults who moved here seeking a better quality of life but carry unaddressed trauma. Radiant Recovery offers specialized PTSD treatment and trauma therapy for Savannah residents via telehealth across Georgia. Services include EMDR and CPT. We accept Georgia Medicaid. Same-week appointments.
Who We Help
Black Savannah residents processing racial and historical trauma
The psychological impact of living in a city where sites of the slave trade are part of the tourist scene -- where trauma remains present in the environment -- is a specific clinical reality for Black residents of Savannah. Racial trauma in Savannah has both historical roots and current significance. Our BIPOC clinicians approach this with clinical seriousness and do not ask clients to downplay its importance.
SCAD students and young adults who have experienced sexual or identity-based trauma
Sexual violence and identity-based harassment occur at high rates in creative academic settings. For LGBTQ+ SCAD students especially, experiencing identity-based targeting in educational and social environments can be traumatic, requiring affirming, trauma-informed clinical care. We provide this support.
Domestic violence survivors in Chatham County
Savannah experiences high rates of domestic violence and intimate partner violence. The resulting trauma--such as complex PTSD, shame, avoidance, and trauma bonding--requires a safety-first approach in clinical practice and evidence-based trauma treatment. We provide services for DV survivors in Savannah and throughout coastal Georgia via telehealth.
Adults with cumulative and complex trauma
Many Savannah residents carry multiple layers of trauma--personal, familial, historical, and community-level--that build upon each other. Complex PTSD from ongoing trauma requires a slow, relationship-focused therapeutic approach. We do not rush the process.
