Loss can make ordinary tasks feel unfamiliar. You might be caring for children, working, managing a household, or supporting other family members while your own grief receives little space. You may feel sadness, anger, relief, numbness, guilt, or a shifting combination of emotions. Counseling can offer a place to speak honestly without being told how you should feel.
Radiant Recovery & Counseling provides grief counseling for eligible Minnesota clients through secure telehealth. A clinician can help you explore the emotional and practical effects of loss while respecting your pace and values.
Support when responsibilities continue
Grief does not pause bills, parenting, work, or family decisions. Therapy may focus on small routines, communication, boundaries, emotional support, and planning for reminders or anniversaries. It can also help you identify when grief is occurring alongside trauma, depression, anxiety, or substance-use concerns and discuss appropriate next steps.
Questions about fit
Before beginning, ask whether the provider works with your age group, whether family sessions are available, how telehealth privacy is handled, and what happens if you need psychiatric or crisis support. Choosing a clinician is a collaborative decision.
There is no single way to grieve
Two people can lose the same person and grieve in completely different ways, and both can be normal. Some St. Louis Park clients want to talk through memories in detail; others find that too painful and prefer to focus on the present. Some feel relief alongside sadness, particularly after a long illness or a difficult relationship, and then feel guilty for feeling relief at all. Children grieve differently than adults, often moving in and out of sadness quickly and returning to play, which can be confusing for parents who expect more visible signs of distress. Naming these differences openly, rather than measuring your grief against someone else's, is often the first useful step.
What working with Radiant looks like
A first session is a chance to describe what has been happening since the loss, in whatever order it comes out, without needing to have it organized in advance. From there, your clinician can help you identify what kind of support would actually help: processing the loss itself, managing the practical disruption grief causes to sleep, work, or relationships, or supporting a child or teen who is grieving alongside you. Telehealth appointments are available to eligible clients throughout Minnesota, with scheduling flexibility for families managing grief on top of everyday responsibilities.
